論文概要:Urbanization is accelerating worldwide, particularly in Asia, where it significantly impacts economic, social, and environmental landscapes. This research explores the sustainability performance of urbanization and its environmental effects across China's major megalopolises, using an innovative assessment system. The framework evaluates sustainability as a balance between the quality of the built environment and environmental pressure, incorporating dimensions such as urban economies, infrastructure development, and environmental impacts.
Using data from 2010 to 2018, the study conducts a spatio-temporal analysis of four major Chinese megalopolises: Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Shandong Peninsula, and Jing-Jin-Ji. Results demonstrate distinct sustainability patterns, driven by regional characteristics, urbanization intensity, and environmental constraints. The findings provide actionable insights for urban policy-making, emphasizing efficient management, infrastructure improvement, and balanced urban growth.
This research highlights the critical need for sustainable urbanization strategies in developing countries, addressing challenges such as environmental degradation and urban shrinkage. The proposed framework offers a comprehensive tool for evaluating urban sustainability, guiding cities toward a sustainable development trajectory.
