論文概要:Global climate change and increasing carbon emissions have significant environmental impacts. Universities, with their diverse functions and energy consumption structures, are valuable for research on carbon emissions and low-carbon strategies. Transitioning from qualitative to quantitative analysis is critical for understanding campus carbon footprints and developing targeted emission reduction measures. While many universities worldwide have explored low-carbon strategies, research on accurately calculating campus emissions remains limited. This highlights the need for detailed calculations to quantify emissions and identify effective reduction strategies, avoiding redundant or superficial measures.

This study focuses on the carbon emissions of the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park (KSRP) over the past 19 years, analyzing emissions from electricity and natural gas usage in research institutions.

Key findings include: (1) Distributed energy systems for electricity and gas are more carbon-efficient than direct energy purchases.

(2) Aging and poorly maintained equipment at KSRP should be replaced to improve energy efficiency.

(3) Implementing additional solar photovoltaic systems, absorption chillers and heaters, and maximizing plant carbon sequestration demonstrate promising decarbonization effects, potentially outperforming the original distributed energy system.

These findings emphasize the potential for targeted strategies to build low-carbon campuses.
