About Professor Weijun GAO'

Dr. Gao is a professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Kitakyushu Visiting Professor at Xi'an JiaoTong University, China Advice Professor at Jilin Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute, China

He was born in Haining, Zhejiang Province, China, a small town with about 40,000 population. He entered to Tongji University , shanghai in 1978 when he was 16 years old.

He got his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1982.

In August, 1982, He was sent to Architectural Design and Research Institute(ADRI) in Zhejiang University(Web in abroad).

In 1984, He enrolled into Master Degree Course in Heat transfer and Environmental Control in Buildings while worked at ADRI.

in 1987,he got his Master Degree in Engineering from Zhejiang University. Then he become a lecturer in Department of Architecture to teach Planning for Environmental Control of Architecture.

In 1989, he enroll the PH.D. program at Energy Engineering Department, Zhejiang University while worked for Department of Architecture to have a research on Fire Simulation and Protection in Buildings.

In October, 1990, he , as a visiting scholar, come to Waseda University, Japan and have being studying the city environmental planning in Ojima Laboratory.

In 1993, he entered to Doctor course to have a study on Effects of Green Area on Mitigating Urban Thermal Environment.

in March, 1996. he got his PhD in Engineering from Waseda University

From 1995, he was teaching Environmental Planning for Architecture and Urban Design in College of Technology, Waseda University.

From 1997 to 2001, he became a lecturer at Advanced Research Institute for Science and Engineering, Waseda University, and also was a post doctoral fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science

In April, 2001, he became an associate professor in Faculty of Environment Environmental Engineering, The University of Kitakyushu and at the same time, worked for Waseda University as a visiting associate professor.

In 2006, he, as a visiting professor, worked at Berkeley Laboratory, The University of California

In April, 2007, he became a professor to lead a group in study of energy, environment planning for city.
